Managing challenging conversations as a TA: Diversity, communication, and disruptive behaviours

For many, the classroom is increasingly a minefield of obstacles and risks: should I broach such and such a subject? How do I go about it? What happens if the audience is offended, reacts negatively, disrespects me, questions my integrity, damages my reputation, etc.? How can I prevent this from happening?

In this webinar, following a contextual introduction, you will discover strategies from the fields of pedagogy (e.g.: the importance of the first class and participation); diversity (e.g.: group composition, being an ally); communication (e.g.: proactive facilitation, sharing expectations, class norms and complaint process); and managing disruptive behaviors (e.g.: resolution model, targeted tips).

You will leave this webinar with the knowledge, tips and tools to face a variety of difficult conversations with confidence, but above all to take action to prevent them as much as possible.

A Zoom link will be sent to registered participants the day before the webinar.
