The INNOVA Satellites
The INNOVA Satellites network ensures equity and accessibility for French-language education in minority settings across Canada. Created by the Teaching and Learning Support Service (TLSS) to strengthen Francophone education, this free network links schools, colleges, and universities, enabling them to share resources, collaborate on projects, and access joint funding opportunities.
Development of Communities of Practice
Starting in fall 2024, several pedagogical communities of practice will be offered, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, immersive technologies for learning, interactive digital tools, and more. These virtual spaces for sharing and collaboration will allow all educational communities in minority settings to benefit from the research and experiments underway at INNOVA.
Development of Open Educational Resources (OER)
Develop, share, and adapt! One of INNOVA’s priorities is to stimulate the development of French-language Open Educational Resources (OER), so that the entire French-speaking educational community in minority settings can also benefit from the resources (research, experimental reports, concepts, scenarios, etc.) developed in partnership with INNOVA. An OER development kit is already available in collaboration with the University of Ottawa’s Library Service.
This kit contains five short documents designed to introduce you to the basic concepts and practices related to the use and creation of Open Educational Resources (OER):
- Introduction to Open Educational Resources
- Creative Commons Licenses
- Finding OER
- Evaluating OER
- The OER Creation Process
Technology Kits
Technology kits can be loaned to educational institutions and INNOVA partners as part of research or experimentation projects submitted that meet the mandate and objectives of the INNOVA initiative (the detailed submission process and selection criteria will be communicated shortly).
These kits may include Meta Quest 3 virtual reality headsets, HoloLens 2 augmented reality headsets, and other wearable technologies, which will be confirmed shortly.
Hybrid Collaboration Spaces
All our collaborative spaces—interactive classrooms, meeting rooms, co-design areas, etc.—are equipped with the latest videoconferencing technologies and a range of collaborative software. This allows member institutions of the INNOVA Satellites network and partners to fully participate in all proposed activities, in hybrid mode, despite their geographical distance.
