Upgraded Zoom License
This page allows you to request an upgraded Zoom license (Webinar or Meeting, up to 1,000 participants) for an event whose size exceeds the 500-participant capacity of your standard uOttawa Zoom account.
The license will be granted to the uOttawa Zoom account indicated in the form below and will be available 48 hours before the event date you have indicated. It remains active for 48 hours after the event, giving you time to download the recording locally to your computer if the event was recorded, after which the license is removed from the account and the recording is deleted. It nevertheless remains valid for 15 days at no additional cost and may, if necessary, be reassigned to the same account within that period. After this 15-day period, any new request will be treated as a new license request and will be subject to the applicable fee.
Please complete all required fields and submit your request within a reasonable time frame (preferably at least one week in advance) before your event to allow for processing.
Key difference: meetings favor exchange, webinars favor broadcasting to an audience.
Meeting (1,000 participants) — all participants have active participant status: they can turn on their camera and microphone, share their screen, and interact directly with one another. Suited to collaborative gatherings, interactive seminars, and working groups.
Webinar (1,000 participants) — the host and designated panelists present to an audience that is, by default, in listen-only mode (camera and microphone disabled). Attendees interact through chat and Q&A. Suited to conferences, lecture-style training, or one-way events where audience interaction needs to be managed.
We invite you to complete the form below, providing all the necessary information so that we can process your request.
This form is reserved for University of Ottawa employees (faculty and support staff). It is not available to students.
