Karine Gauvin, M.Sc.S, Speech-Language Pathologist

How can we foster – and, above all, sustain – student motivation and engagement in every class, whether in-person or online?

Lise Kingsbury, OCT – Retired school administrator
Part-time Professor
Faculty of Education

A mini-study conducted with 150 students enrolled in three courses, focusing on the implementation of 12 teaching and learning strategies recognized by research for their engaging nature and effectiveness. This study aimed to validate these findings among a university population. The results presented highlight the strategies that learners rated as most appreciated, while assessing their perceived effectiveness in relation to their learning.

Optimizing Active Learning in Physiology Through an Active Approach in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Ottawa

Ilham Mekkioui, Assistant Professor
Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology
Faculty of Medicine

This project presents a multimodal pedagogical approach aimed at improving the learning of physiology in response to student disengagement due to its complexity. By integrating interactive resources, formative assessment, and active recall activities, it promotes autonomy, understanding, and motivation.
