Active Learning Activities and Assessment Methods to Foster Engagement Among Generation Z

A mini-study conducted with 150 students enrolled in three courses, focusing on the implementation of 12 teaching and learning strategies recognized by research for their engaging nature and effectiveness. This study aimed to validate these findings among a university population. The results presented highlight the strategies that learners rated as most appreciated, while assessing their perceived effectiveness in relation to their learning.
Optimizing Active Learning in Physiology Through an Active Approach in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Ottawa

This project presents a multimodal pedagogical approach aimed at improving the learning of physiology in response to student disengagement due to its complexity. By integrating interactive resources, formative assessment, and active recall activities, it promotes autonomy, understanding, and motivation.
The results demonstrate a significant improvement in engagement and performance, supporting the potential of this active learning model to transform the teaching of biomedical sciences.
From Knowledge to Action: Learning to Practice as a Notary

Project and Problem-Based Learning in Engineering Incorporating Artificial Intelligence

This capstone project focuses on the integration of project and problem-based learning into engineering, computer science, and software engineering courses, with a particular emphasis on the responsible use of artificial intelligence as a cross-disciplinary teaching tool.
The goal is to design activities in which students do not merely receive content, but must analyze, design, discuss, justify, test, and reflect on situations that closely resemble professional practice.
